Naples – A 40-year-old man of Albanian origin was arrested by the State Police yesterday afternoon on charges of robbery.
The intervention of the police officers Vicar-Mercato was triggered following a report received by the Operations Room for a robbery that had just taken place in a shop on Via Sant'Antonio Abate.
Arriving promptly on the scene, the police identified and stopped an individual who perfectly matched the description provided by the victim. Subsequent investigations allowed them to reconstruct the dynamics of the attack.
According to the information, the man, shortly before the police arrived, had entered the business and physically attacked the owner. After overpowering him, he had stolen money from him, then attempted to flee.
His attempt was, however, thwarted by the rapid intervention of the officers, who stopped him in the immediate vicinity of the shop.
In light of the ascertained facts, the 40-year-old of Albanian origin was declared under arrest by the operating personnel and will have to answer for the crime of robbery. The episode highlights once again the promptness and effectiveness of the intervention of the police forces in combating predatory crime in the heart of the city.

It is a very bad episode and it makes us reflect on the safety in our cities. The police did well to intervene quickly, but we wonder how it is possible that a 40-year-old man does things like this.
