Tensions were high on the night of May 1st at Porta Capuana, in the heart of Naples, where a violent brawl broke out in the street between several people.
It was around midnight when, amidst shouts and shots, iron bars, shards of glass and even a machete appeared, sparking panic among the tourists and passers-by still present in the area.
The episode, the latest in an area long marked by degradation and widespread crime, was reported by numerous residents to the deputy of the Green-Sinister Alliance, Francesco Emilio Borrelli, who publicly denounced the incident. There are currently no serious injuries on site, but the violence and brutality of the scene, which took place in one of the symbolic places of the historic center, raise new concerns about urban safety.
Law enforcement is working to reconstruct the exact dynamics and identify those responsible.
“While there are those who are still convinced that they should let it go, blood is flowing here” – comments Borrelli – “The point of no return has now been crossed, it is difficult to recover, we can only make a clean sweep and start again. If before we tolerated everything, now we need zero tolerance. We need fixed patrols, maybe even the army, continuous checks and exemplary punishments. Otherwise the end is not near, it is on our shoulders”.

The situation in Naples seems increasingly serious and worrying, the fights and violence never stop. This is a serious problem that requires immediate attention from the competent authorities to ensure the safety of citizens.
The police should be more active in the area, but it seems that there is not enough personnel to deal with these situations. Residents are afraid to leave their homes, it is a real disaster.
It is sad to see our city reduced to this state, but many do not want to face reality. A radical change in the management of public safety is needed, otherwise the degradation will continue.
