Monteforte Irpino – Widespread checks, arrests, reports, and searches have been conducted in the municipality of Monteforte Irpino, dissolved in March 2024 due to Camorra infiltration. Over the past 48 hours, Carabinieri officers from the Avellino Provincial Command , supported by a team from the CIO (Operational Intervention Center) and the elite soldiers of the Tenth Campania Regiment, have intensified their anti-crime efforts.
The operation led to the arrest of a 33-year-old local man, who received an arrest warrant from the Aosta Prosecutor's Office for assault and was immediately transferred to prison. Another arrest involved a 53-year-old woman who had violated the provisions of house arrest, for whom the doors of prison opened.
Three people, including a sixteen-year-old, were reported for dealing and using narcotics, a sign of the constant attention of law enforcement on the drug phenomenon in the area.
During the numerous checkpoints set up, over 1.500 people were identified, demonstrating the widespread nature of the controls. In addition, targeted house searches were carried out on individuals burdened by police prejudices, with the aim of identifying elements useful for the investigation and preventing further illicit activities.
