Pepe Reina hangs up his gloves. The Spanish goalkeeper, world champion in 2010 and two-time European champion with La Roja, has announced his retirement from playing football. The last match will be Como-Inter, a decisive challenge for the Scudetto, scheduled for Friday.

At 43, Reina ends a career spanning more than 25 years, which began in 2000 with Barcelona.

During his career, he played for top European clubs such as Liverpool, Bayern Munich, Milan and Napoli, but also Villarreal, Lazio, Aston Villa and finally Como, where he arrived a year and a half ago at the invitation of his friend Cesc Fabregas.

"I decided to stop in January, after talking about it with my wife," he said in an interview with Movistar. But his future will still be on the pitch: "Every day I feel more like a coach than a goalkeeper," said Reina, already ready for a new adventure on the bench.
