Naples – Moments of tension yesterday morning in via Firenze, near Piazza Garibaldi, where a 30-year-old of Senegalese origins was arrested by the State Police on charges of attempted robbery, assault and resisting a public official.
The man, an illegal immigrant in the country and with a police record, was noticed by agents of the General Prevention Office while he was threatening some passers-by by brandishing a broken bottle.

At the sight of the patrol, he reacted violently, throwing the glass to the ground and arming himself with a sharp metal object, with which he threatened the officers. After a fight, and thanks to the support of the Vasto-Arenaccia Police Station staff, the subject was stopped and arrested.
The intervention is part of the extraordinary checks ordered by the Police Headquarters for the security of the central station area. The investigations are ongoing.

The arrest of this Senegalese man makes us reflect on how security is important, but we must not forget that people in difficulty also need help and support, so a balance between justice and understanding is needed.
