A potentially fatal accident was avoided by pure chance in the press department of the Stellantis plant in Pomigliano d'Arco during the night shift.
A coil of several tons fell to the ground, endangering the safety of the workers present. The RSA of FIOM, together with the territorial structure, expressed deep concern, defining the episode as the result of “superficiality” and a lack of attention to safety, which have been denounced several times.
Among the critical issues reported: an inadequate fleet of forklifts, dangerous internal traffic, slippery floors due to oil leaks, lack of adequate training and anomalies on production lines, such as the failure to mechanically block line 70 and the non-compliant surface of line 110.
La FIOM criticizes the company's attitude, accusing it of privileging efficiency at the expense of safety, and asks that heavy material handling activities not take place during ordinary operations.
In the absence of concrete interventions, the union threatens to file complaints with the competent authorities. “Worker safety is a non-negotiable priority,” underlines FIOM, recalling the urgency of effective measures in a national context marked by a high number of accidents at work.
The union promises to keep the issue under close scrutiny, while waiting for definitive solutions for the stamping department.
