A 14-year-old girl, Sandra Iuliana Bolog, lost her life last night, Wednesday 14 May, hit by a train at the level crossing on Corso Libertà.
The young woman, of Romanian origin and living a few steps away from the site of the tragedy, was crossing the tracks with headphones on, despite the barriers being lowered, when she was hit by a train headed for Milan, around 19pm. The impact was inevitable and rescue efforts proved useless.
Rail traffic on the line between Palazzolo Milanese and Seveso, interrupted following the accident, resumed at 21pm.
This is the fifth fatal accident since 2013 at the Corso Libertà level crossing, where an overpass is planned to increase safety. The community is in shock at the loss of a young life.

It's a real tragedy what happened yesterday with the girl Sandra. I don't understand why people don't pay attention when they cross the tracks, especially with the train passing. There must be more warning signs.
