A large ring of fake certificates for social-health workers (OSS) has been unmasked by the Carabinieri of the NAS of Bologna, who carried out 107 personal and house searches ordered by the Public Prosecutor's Office of Salerno.
The operation, conducted in 27 Italian provinces, including islands, with the support of the territorial departments and the Health Protection Department, sees 107 individuals investigated for forgery of public documents.
The investigations, which began in March 2024 with a check in a nursing home in the province of Ferrara, began after the discovery of a false professional qualification certificate in the possession of an operator, purchased for 800 euros from a resident in the Salerno area.
According to investigators, the document was issued without attending training courses. Further investigations revealed that other operators in the Ferrara area possessed similar certificates, all of which were false.
The analysis of the bank accounts of the main suspect, a person with no occupation or ties to training institutions, brought to light numerous suspicious transfers, for a total of approximately 93 thousand euros since December 2021, many of which were linked to the sale of fake degree certificates, high school diplomas and professional certificates.
The searches aim to seize false documents, registered to training institutions unrelated to the affair, and to collect further evidence. The investigation aims to dismantle a network that has compromised the regularity of professional qualifications in the social and health sector.
