A playoff semifinal turns into a scene of urban guerrilla warfare. It happened on Sunday, May 11 in Aversa, at the end of the Eccellenza Campania group A match between Real Normanna and Nola. The post-match clashes led to the arrest of two people and the reporting of a third, with a young man hospitalized for a compound fracture to the elbow and a prognosis of 90 days.

According to the reconstruction by the State Police of Caserta, coordinated by the Prosecutor's Office of Naples North, the tension exploded at the end of the match. Some Nola fans, hooded and just arrived at the height of Teverola, got out of their vehicles and attacked with extreme violence a group of people outside a bar. Among them, a boy was targeted, chased into a commercial establishment and brutally beaten.

Shortly afterward, the bus carrying the visiting team was hit by objects thrown by a group of Aversa fans, which damaged the windshield. Investigators from the Digos and the Aversa and Nola police stations, thanks to the analysis of surveillance videos, identified and arrested a 22-year-old from the province of Naples, responsible for the attack on the injured young man, and a 26-year-old from Aversa who threw a chair at the Nola bus. A third man, a 54-year-old from the Aversa area, was reported at large.

The arrests were made under the deferred flagrant arrest regime, which allows for intervention within 48 hours of the events. Both arrested are now under house arrest, awaiting validation. In the meantime, the Police Headquarters has started the procedures for the Daspo and further investigations are underway to identify the other participants in the riots.

The episode of violence after the match is very worrying and makes you think about how fans behave during matches. I hope that the authorities can find a solution to prevent similar situations in the future, it is a shame to see football reduced to this.
