A 17-year-old of Romanian origin was arrested yesterday afternoon in Striano on charges of aggravated robbery. The young man was surprised by two off-duty police officers while he was trying to escape after committing a robbery inside a supermarket on Via Poggiomarino.
The officers, one from the General Prevention Office and the other from the San Giuseppe Vesuviano Police Station, heard screams coming from inside the store and intervened. At the entrance, they saw the boy who, after hiding a gun in his backpack, attempted to escape.
The two policemen chased him and, keeping him under control, alerted their colleagues from the San Giuseppe Vesuviano Police Station, who quickly arrived on the scene.

The boy was stopped after a brief struggle. Inside the backpack, the officers found a replica pistol without the red cap and approximately 1.660 euros in cash.
According to the findings, the 17-year-old had just robbed the supermarket by threatening the staff with the weapon. He was arrested on charges of aggravated robbery.
