The Court of Appeal of Naples (president Mariella Montefusco) has re-determined the sentences of two leading figures of the Camorra of Miano.
This is the namesake nephew of the repentant boss Carlo Lo Russo and of the one who for a period was the regent of the gang, namely Luigi Russo called Giggiotto, arrested in Irpinia after a long period of fugitiveism.
The two were accused of having supplied drugs to the Castello di Cisterna drug dealing area during the years in which the “Capitoni” they had control of drug trafficking in many areas of the province of Naples.
To Carlo Lo Russo, alias Lellè, (defended by the lawyersby Domenico Dello Iacono and Massimo Autieri) a substantial reduction in sentence was applied, one year and 8 months in prison, because the defense lawyers highlighted the contradictions in the statements of the repentant Marco Di Lorenzo but above all the contradictions contained in the first degree sentence that had condemned Lo Russo to 8 years in prison.
In practice, the Court had sentenced the boss's nephew with the mafia aggravation but without applying the continuation with the previous sentences of conviction of the members of the Miano gang. The Court of Appeal accepted the requests of the two defense attorneys who argued that there was no mafia aggravation and that the crime should be considered in continuity with the activity of drug supplier by the boss, reducing the sentence to one year and eight months of imprisonment.

The sentence of the Court of Appeal of Naples is very complex and there are many aspects to consider. It is not clear how these reductions of sentence were made, because there are many contradictions in the statements. The lawyers did a good job, but justice should be clearer.
