There are 25 people registered in the register of suspects by the Torre Annunziata Public Prosecutor's Office in the investigation into the Faito cable car tragedy, which cost the lives of four people last April 17. Among the suspects is also Umberto De Gregorio, president of theEav, the body that manages the plant.
The registration was necessary in view of a one-off technical assessment, for which the assignment will be given to experts on May 23. The charges, formulated by the pool of magistrates coordinated by the prosecutor Nunzio Fragliasso, concern the crimes of manslaughter and negligent injury in complicity, in addition to alleged omissions related to the design, maintenance, control and supervision of the plant.
Among the victims of the tragedy were Carmine Parlato, an Eav employee; Janan Suliman, a young Israeli-Palestinian tourist; and the British couple Elaime Margaret and Graeme Derek Winn. Janan's brother, Thabet Suliman, is in serious condition.
According to the Prosecutor's Office, 14 of the suspects would have attested to the absence of critical issues in the plant at the time of the reopening on April 10. The suspects, in addition to Eav employees, include technicians and officials of Ansfisa and representatives of the Franz Part company, responsible for maintenance, including that of the "cast heads", one of which was seized in recent days.
De Gregorio: “I am calm and I confirm my trust in justice”
