Afragola – New developments in the investigation into the murder of Martina Carbonaro, the 14-year-old brutally killed on May 27 in Afragola by her ex-boyfriend, 19-year-old Alessio Tucci.

The North Naples Public Prosecutor's Office has ordered a series of technical investigations by the Carabinieri of the RIS (Italian National Search and Rescue Unit) on several key pieces of evidence, including some hairs found between the victim's index finger and thumb.

Specialized officers will also analyze the concrete fragment, or stone—presumably used as the murder weapon—with which 19-year-old Alessio Tucci , a self-confessed criminal, allegedly struck the girl in the head at least four times inside an abandoned building near the Moccia Stadium. The forensic analysis will also focus on a pair of sneakers belonging to the suspect.

Technical checks on June 26 at the RIS headquarters in Rome

The activities, which will take place next June 26 in Rome, aim to consolidate the evidentiary framework against the young man, who according to the investigations would have acted after Martina, intending to end a two-year relationship, had refused a hug.

After the attack, Tucci allegedly attempted to hide the body behind a pile of garbage and a closet inside the abandoned building. His cell phone was found turned off and hidden in a crawl space. For two days, before the body was found and his confession, the boy had participated in the search for the girl alongside her parents, feigning concern.

Alessio Tucci is currently being held in solitary confinement in a new prison facility, after being transferred from Poggioreale prison, where he was attacked. He is being defended by lawyer Mario Mangazzo.

Last week, the young man entrusted the prison chaplain where he's being held with a letter addressed to Pope Leo XIV, asking for forgiveness for what he's done. This sparked outrage on social media, including that of Martina Carbonaro's mother, who said, "I hope the Pope doesn't respond ." She also said, "I want to go to the Holy Father wearing Martina's glasses."
