Avellino – Bandits were active at the Bisaccia post office in the province of Avellino. The gang used the "marmotta" technique (an explosive device that, once triggered, detonates the cash register to steal the money), a technique so widespread in recent times.
Using this technique , a group of bandits attacked the ATM at the Bisaccia post office in the province of Avellino. The explosion, just before 5:00 a.m. this morning on Via Roma, was heard throughout the small Irpinia town and woke up much of the population.
Numerous alarm calls were made to 112. Carabinieri from the Sant'Angelo dei Lombardi Company were on site and are reviewing footage from local surveillance cameras. The gas dispenser was destroyed. The amount stolen is yet to be determined.
This is a very worrying situation, this one of bandits using the marmot technique. There should be more security in the post office and ATMs, so that citizens feel more protected and calm.
