A new case of domestic violence shakes Montesarchio, where the local carabinieri have executed a decree of residence ban against a man accused of stalking and assaulting his sister.
The provision, established by the Investigating judge of the Court of Benevento at the request of the Prosecutor's Office, follows the complaint of the victim, who said she had been the victim of a series of harassment and intimidation by the alleged aggressor.
According to investigators' reconstruction, the brother repeatedly harassed his sister, demanding the car keys and demanding small sums of money for petrol and cigarettes.
When the woman refused, the man allegedly reacted with insults, vandalism – such as deflating the tires or kicking the car and the doors of the house – and threats, including death. In an audio recording, he allegedly promised chilling phrases: “tonight I'll put a rope around your throat… come out give me the keys…”
The story shows how even within the home walls, violence and terror can be unleashed. The house arrest is a first step to protect the victim and stop a family escalation.
The Prosecutor's Office is keeping a close eye on the episode, which confirms the urgency of immediate responses in situations of abuse, while investigators continue to gather evidence useful for the investigation.

It is really sad to hear about cases like this happening in families, but I think the authorities need to do more to protect the victims and prevent this from happening again. Violence is never a right solution.
