Avellino – Moments of terror this morning on the A16 motorway Napoli-Canosa, where a bus from a private travel agency caught fire just before entering the Monteforte Irpino tunnel.

On board, 28 passengers headed from Naples to Avellino managed to save themselves thanks to the promptness of the driver, who raised the alarm allowing the evacuation of the vehicle before it was completely engulfed in flames.

The fire, which broke out suddenly, quickly engulfed the bus, spreading to the vegetation surrounding the roadway. The timely intervention of the Highway Police ensured the safety of the passengers, while the Fire Brigade worked to tame the flames, preventing the fire from spreading further. F

Fortunately, no injuries were reported, but the fear was great for the travellers, who experienced moments of panic before being rescued.

The accident caused severe traffic slowdowns in the direction of Avellino, with long queues forming along the motorway. The authorities immediately began investigations to ascertain the causes of the fire, which are still unknown at the moment. A mechanical failure or a technical problem is assumed, but technical investigations will clarify the dynamics of the event.

Today I read about this accident and it seems very worrying to me. The passengers were lucky to survive, but it is strange how a bus catches fire for no apparent reason. Let's hope that the investigations will bring clarifications, because situations like this are scary.
