Caivano – A fire in an apartment in Caivano revealed a veritable marijuana greenhouse, leading to the arrest of the owner.
The Carabinieri and the Fire Brigade intervened after an emergency report indicating flames in a house, discovering an illegal cultivation.
The fire, fortunately extinguished without there being any people inside the apartment, was attributed to a short circuit. But the Carabinieri did not need much time to guess the real cause of the electrical overload.
In the appurtenances of the house, they found four canvas wardrobes equipped with a sophisticated ventilation system, LED lighting and an irrigation system, all tailor-made for a indoor cultivation.
Ten kilograms of marijuana and packaging material
Inside the makeshift greenhouses, the Carabinieri of the Caivano Company found 62 marijuana plants of four different varieties, for a total weight of about ten kilos. The military also found dozens of glass jars, presumably dirty with hashish and marijuana, as well as various materials for packaging the drug.
During the investigation phase, the owner of the house, a 43-year-old local man with no criminal record, arrived on site and expressed concern about the conditions of his apartment. The man was immediately arrested on charges of production, trafficking and possession of narcotic or psychotropic substances.
