UA large amount of real estate assets were seized by the financial police of the Provincial Commands of the Guardia di Finanza of Ancona and Ascoli Piceno as part of an anti-mafia operation coordinated by the District Anti-Mafia Directorate of the Public Prosecutor's Office of Ancona.
The measure affected two brothers of Campanian origin, one of whom was convicted of mafia association, both with previous convictions for crimes against property and the person.
The seizure, ordered as a preventive measure, involved 25 real estate units, including numerous apartments, a hotel, warehouses, stores, offices and service stations, and 23 plots of land for a total area of over 200.000 square meters, all located in the province of Ascoli Piceno. The total value of the seized assets exceeds 4 million euros.
According to the findings of the Economic and Financial Police Unit of Ancona and the Company of San Benedetto del Tronto, the two brothers - once considered the leaders of a Camorra clan active between Caserta and Naples - moved to the Marche region in the early 90s, following a feud with a rival group. Once settled in the Piceno area, they invested capital believed to be of illicit origin in a series of real estate acquisitions.
The asset investigations have allowed to reconstruct in detail the consistency of the assets, highlighting a clear disproportion between the declared income and the value of the assets acquired over time. The investigating authorities believe that the resources used for the acquisitions derive from previous criminal activities, including extortion, receiving stolen goods, arms and drug trafficking and bankruptcy crimes.
The seizure, carried out on the basis of the regulations set forth in the Anti-Mafia Code, also has a strong symbolic and social value: targeting illicitly accumulated wealth also means taking away power and influence from organised crime and returning to the community resources taken away from the legal circuit of the economy.
The Guardia di Finanza emphasizes that, based on the principle of presumption of innocence, the responsibility of the people involved will be definitively ascertained only with an irrevocable sentence.

It is interesting to see how the authorities act against organized crime, but I wonder if this type of operation can really bring about lasting change in the territory. Let's hope that these measures are effective.
I think it is important to be careful not to harm innocent people in the kidnapping process, because there are families who could be involved without having done anything wrong. You always have to investigate carefully.
