A “Jamaica of the South” just outside Naples. In the Lattari Mountains, what was once a land of farmers and scenic trails is turning into a war zone against drug trafficking. In just 24 hours, the Carabinieri of Castellammare di Stabia, supported by the Helicopter Squadron "Cacciatori Calabria", discovered a new cannabis plantation in the Pozzano area: 3 well-hidden sites in the woods with over 120 plants XNUMX meters high, ready for harvest.
But this is not an isolated case: it is only the last piece of the puzzle. “Continuum Bellum 3”, an operation that since May 14 has already led to the destruction of over 670 marijuana plants, scattered in 17 clandestine crops between Gragnano, Lettere and Castellammare. The numbers speak for themselves: a real illegal industry rooted in the vegetation.
And it doesn't end there. During the investigation, the police made a disturbing discovery: an arsenal hidden underground, like in a movie. Two pistols with erased serial numbers, three rifles (including a semi-automatic), over 100 bullets, magazines and even tools for gun maintenance. A real war depot, just a few steps from the hiking trails.
The most affected areas? Gragnano, Vallone Fondica and Monte Muto, but also the border woods with Lettere and Castellammare. Here, the fight against crime is played out meter by meter, between drones, helicopters and soldiers on the ground.
The goal is clear: return the Lattari Mountains to honest citizens, dismantling plantations, exposing criminal networks and taking away space for weapons. A massive operation that, due to its scale, has already caused talk of “Cannabis Red Zone”.
The war is on. And this time, the state is responding blow for blow.
