Cristian Chivu is officially the new coach of Inter. The announcement came directly from the Nerazzurri club with a note on the official website: the Romanian coach, a former defensive pillar of the Mourinho era, has signed a contract until June 30, 2027. A return that was strongly desired, which marks the beginning of his third life in Nerazzurri, after having been a player and then a youth team coach.
The club's statement tells the story of a man who faced enormous obstacles without ever losing touch with the shirt he loved. On March 24, 2010, just 77 days after a very serious skull fracture, Chivu returned to the field with a protective helmet and a courage that moved San Siro. That day, more than any trophy, he cemented his bond with the Nerazzurri fans, becoming a symbol of resilience and belonging.
In seven seasons at Inter, Chivu won it all: three Scudetti, two Coppa Italia titles, two Super Cups, the Club World Cup, and the 2010 Champions League. After retiring in 2014, he began his coaching career in Inter's youth academy, where he worked with passion and humility, winning a Scudetto and growing step by step. Last season, he left the Primavera bench, only to return to the role in February 2025 with Parma, saving them in a difficult relegation race, finishing with 16 points from 13 games.
Now Inter has entrusted him with the First Team. A natural transition, but not a trivial one. Chivu arrives at the big leap strong in his values: spirit of sacrifice, sense of team and hard work. “There are lives that know how to start again stronger,” writes the club. His is one of those. And now it’s up to him to write the next Nerazzurri chapter, this time as a protagonist on the bench.
