Naples - The defense attorneys for entrepreneur Alfredo Romeo and his collaborator Ivan Russo, who were sentenced yesterday to 7 and 4 years in prison respectively in the separate trial of the Consip investigation, are not accepting this.
In fact, they speak of "a severe sentence of condemnation incomprehensible on the merits, and totally inconsistent with the evidence collected in the trial". The note is signed by the lawyers Giovan Battista Vignola and Francesco Carotenuto for Alfredo Romeo and the lawyers Gian Domenico Caiazza and Alfredo Sorge for Ivan Russo.
“One of the most important entrepreneurs Italians and the professional who assisted him in some very important hotel projects – the note reads – allegedly bribed some public officials in one case by offering an ornamental plant worth a few dozen euros.
In another, hosting, in exchange for a measure blatantly prejudicial to the interests of the entrepreneur, hospitality for a few days in a hotel. And again, a dinner worth about 200 euros was offered to a public official in exchange for alleged favoritism in some marginal administrative controls.
We will read the reasons for the sentence – the lawyers conclude – which we will obviously challenge, curious to know what, in all these events, are the acts contrary to the duties of office carried out by the public officials allegedly corrupted with similar, grotesque perks”.

The sentence seems to be very severe, but I do not understand why the lawyers say that the evidence is not valid. Perhaps there are errors in the evaluation of the evidence? It would be interesting to know what the acts of corruption were.
