Milan. Cyber Security Foundation, the first non-profit organization in Italy in the cyber world, and Fortinet, a global leader in cybersecurity that drives the convergence of networking and security, have announced an important collaboration agreement that will offer cybersecurity training to the Foundation's members, contributing to the development of fundamental skills.

Cyber Security Foundation joins the Fortinet Education Outreach Program, Fortinet’s global initiative that fosters collaborations between industry, academia, government, and nonprofit organizations to develop a skilled and diverse cybersecurity workforce by providing training, certification, and connections to Fortinet’s employer ecosystem.

As part of this collaboration, Fortinet will provide professional certifications needed to support the educational projects of the Foundation, which has always been committed to reducing the digital skills gap in Italy and building a more qualified and inclusive workforce through highly specialized cybersecurity training courses.

"This protocol represents a concrete step towards a greater diffusion of the culture of cyber security in our country, among all those who, starting from the youngest, want to acquire strategic skills for the future - said Marco Gabriele Proietti, president and founder of Cyber Security Foundation - This agreement is in continuity with the mission and objectives of the Foundation and will allow us to continue our commitment to offering highly qualifying training courses, helping to build a new generation of cybersecurity professionals. An investment in human capital that we believe is essential. Every euro spent on digital training produces a multiplied return on the GDP, on employment and on the competitiveness of the country. Digital security is a common good: being prepared in digital security does not only mean 'knowing how to defend yourself', but knowing how to inhabit the digital world with awareness, responsibility and competence".

“The collaboration with the Cyber Security Foundation confirms our commitment to making cybersecurity knowledge accessible to everyone, in Italy and around the world,” explained Massimo Palermo, VP & Country Manager, Italy and Malta at Fortinet. “In a scenario characterized by the constant rise and evolution of cyber threats, training on these topics plays a key role. This is confirmed by our latest Global Cybersecurity Skills Gap Report, according to which, in the last year, 86% of business leaders in Italy declared having suffered a breach that can be partially attributed to the lack of cybersecurity skills in teams that deal with network and security. I am publishing all of this, also taking into account the employment opportunities that knowledge in the field of cybersecurity can open up in Italy where, especially in the southern regions, young people could benefit from this growing demand for cyber skills to access the world of work.”

This agreement between Cyber Security Foundation and Fortinet is interesting, but I don't really understand how this training is developed in practice. Are there already courses available or is it just a future project? It would also be useful to know who can participate in these training courses.
