Naples – A solemn and well-attended ceremony took place on Sunday 2 June in Piazza Plebiscito , where the 79th anniversary of the proclamation of the Italian Republic was celebrated.
The event began with the remembrance of the fallen at the Posillipo Mausoleum , and then continued with the flag-raising ceremony and the reading of the message from the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, by the Prefect of Naples, Michele di Bari.
The highlight of the day was the awarding of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic to 27 citizens of Naples and the province who distinguished themselves in the fields of culture, economics, civil and military service, and social commitment.
To complete the event, the spectacular performance of the Fire Brigade , who unfurled an enormous tricolour flag on the facade of the Government Palace, accompanied by the Fanfare of the 10th Campania Carabinieri Regiment and the children's choir of the San Carlo Theatre.
Among the authorities present were the Archbishop of Naples , Cardinal Domenico Battaglia, along with hundreds of citizens.
"Naples has once again demonstrated that it is a welcoming and proud city, capable of honoring this important anniversary in the best possible way," commented Prefect Di Bari.

Finally, a Neapolitan resident outside the region also received an honour: Roberto Race , currently director of institutional communications at Deloitte , was awarded the title of Officer during the parallel ceremony held in Milan.

The ceremony was very beautiful and meaningful, but I noticed that not all the details were well organized. Some people did not know where to go and there were communication problems.
It's true, I also saw a lot of confusion during the event. The authorities should pay more attention to these aspects to avoid confusion in the future.
Indeed, despite the beauty of the event, there should have been more signs to guide citizens and visitors. It is important that such important events are perfectly organized.
