Naples – The city of Naples celebrated the Festa della Repubblica with participation, in a ceremony that saw the participation of local authorities and citizens in Piazza del Plebiscito. The Prefect of Naples, Michele di Bari, expressed his appreciation for the presence of citizens, underlining how the city “deservedly represented the June 2nd holiday”.

Concluding the ceremony, Prefect Di Bari declared: "Your presence here is a good sign. Today even Naples, which has the characteristic of a large welcoming city, has managed to worthily represent the celebration of June 2nd". The mayor of Naples and president of the National Association of Italian Municipalities (ANCI), Gaetano Manfredi , also took part in the celebrations at the Imperial Forum, reiterating the importance of the anniversary. "Republic Day is an important occasion to remember the principles of peace enshrined in our Constitution," Manfredi said, echoing President Mattarella's message.
The mayor then underlined that “peace represents the primary objective in our country, and a policy of non-aggression but of defense of the principles and values of freedom are one of the fundamental objectives of our country”.
