Naples – A disturbing discovery shocked the Naples waterfront this morning: the lifeless body of a man was spotted in the sea, among the boats moored near via Caracciolo, shortly after 8.
The alarm was apparently raised by some passers-by and boaters, attracted by the presence of the body floating a short distance from the shore.
I immediately intervened on site Carabinieri of the Naples Radiomobile Unit and those of the Posillipo station, who cordoned off the area to allow the recovery of the body and the start of the surveys.
The victim, a man, has not yet been identified: at the moment no documents have been found and the results of the autopsy are awaited to clarify the causes of death.
Il corpse it was found in a usually very busy area, between the docks of pleasure boats, a stone's throw from the famous Villa Comunale and the premises overlooking the gulf. A context that makes the discovery even more dramatic and disturbing.
Searching among missing persons
No hypothesis is excluded: from a voluntary gesture to an accident, up to the possibility – currently unconfirmed – of a violent act. The Carabinieri are examining the reports of disappearance and the images from the cameras present in the area.
It is truly sad that something like this happened, especially in a place like the Naples waterfront. I hope that the authorities can identify the victim and find out what happened to clarify this whole mystery.
