Napoli– Filming of Gomorra – Le Origini, the highly anticipated six-episode prequel to the famous Sky Original crime saga, has concluded in Naples. Produced by Sky Studios and Cattleya (part of ITV Studios), the new series explores the criminal rise of Pietro Savastano and will arrive exclusively on Sky and streaming on NOW from January 2026.

The series is an “origin story” that takes viewers back to Naples in the 1970s, a period of great transformation, marked by poverty and cigarette smuggling.

Created by Leonardo Fasoli, Maddalena Ravagli and Roberto Saviano, and distributed internationally by Beta Film, the prequel promises to reveal the youth of the future boss, with the first four episodes directed by Marco D'Amore, who also serves as artistic supervisor and co-writer, while the last two are directed by Francesco Ghiaccio.

The Young Cast: New Faces for Iconic Characters

From the Neapolitan set come the first images of the young protagonists, many of whom are debutants or at their first experiences. Luca Lubrano plays the young Pietro Savastano, an ambitious and restless street boy from Secondigliano, who dreams of a better life for himself and his friends.

The cast also includes:

Francesco Pellegrino as Angelo 'A Sirena, a charismatic gangster.
Flavio Furno is 'O Paisano, a prisoner who aspires to a Camorra “without slaves and without bosses”.
Tullia Venezia plays a very young Imma, a high school and conservatory student with the American dream.
Antonio Buono, Ciro Burzo and Luigi Cardone are Mimì, Tresette and Macchietta, friends of Angelo 'A Sirena.
Antonio Del Duca, Mattia Francesco Cozzolino, Junior Rancel Rodriguez Arcia and little Antonio Incalza are Lello, Manuele, Toni and Fucariello, friends of Pietro's group.
Renato Russo plays Michele Villa, known as 'O Sant, heir to one of the families of the Neapolitan criminal aristocracy, the Villas.
Ciro Capano is Don Antonio, the boss of Forcella.
Biagio Forestieri plays Corrado Arena, the king of cigarette smuggling.
Fabiola Balestriere is Annalisa Magliocca, the future Scianel, here a young mother victim of her husband's jealousy.
Veronica D'Elia is Anna, 'O Paisano's sister.
From Writing to the Big Screen: The Global Success of Gomorrah

Like the historic parent series, which has conquered audiences and critics in over 190 territories worldwide, Gomorrah – Le Origini is based on the bestseller “Gomorra” by Roberto Saviano, published by Arnoldo Mondadori Editore. The series plot and the plots of the episodes are by Leonardo Fasoli, Maddalena Ravagli and Roberto Saviano, while the screenplays are by Fasoli, Ravagli and Marco D'Amore.

The anticipation for this new chapter of the crime saga is very high, promising to delve deeper into the roots of one of the most iconic and complex characters in the Gomorrah universe.

  1. The article talks about Gomorrah and its origins, it seems interesting especially because it talks about Naples and its history. I hope that the new actors are as good as the old ones and that the plot is convincing.
