Monitoring by the Prefecture
The Prefect of Naples, Michele Di Bari, followed the evolution of the situation in real time, highlighting the need for greater preventive measures in the area Vesuvian. In an official note, the Prefecture reminded the mayors of the municipalities at risk of their obligation to:
Raise awareness among citizens and professional categories (farmers, breeders) on the risks
Update the register of areas affected by fire
Prepare specific municipal civil protection plans for interface fires
Issue targeted ordinances prohibiting:
Burning of plant residues during risk periods
Accumulation of combustible material along roads and railways
Map water points and hazardous deposits (fuels, pyrotechnics)
PREVENTION ALERT
The episode turns the spotlight back on the vulnerability of the Vesuvian territory, where the combination of climatic and anthropic factors increases the risk of fires in the summer months. The authorities emphasize that 90% of the fires are of malicious or negligent origin, making preventive action essential.
“We cannot let our guard down,” said a spokesperson for the regional Civil Protection. “This event demonstrates the effectiveness of the response system, but we must work even more on prevention.”
The situation is being monitored: inspections are planned in the coming days to assess any damage to the ecosystem. In the meantime, the municipalities in the Vesuvian area have until June 20 to communicate to the Region the adoption of anti-fire measures.
