Another tragedy has struck Cervinara, in the heart of the Caudina Valley. Antonio Stanzione, 40, father of three, lost his life yesterday evening in a dramatic road accident while he was riding his motorbike with his 12-year-old son. They were travelling along the road that leads to Contrada Coppola, a mountain area very popular during the summer, when a head-on collision occurred with a car coming from the opposite direction.

The impact was devastating. There was nothing that could be done for Antonio: he died instantly. His son, injured but conscious, was rushed to the “Moscati” hospital in Avellino, where he is currently hospitalized; according to health workers, his life is not in danger. A pain that is further aggravated by the condition of the victim's wife, pregnant with her fourth child, who was taken ill upon hearing the news of the tragedy and is now under medical observation.

The Carabinieri intervened on the spot and started investigations to reconstruct the exact dynamics of the collision. The entire community is in shock: just ten days ago another motorcyclist originally from cervinara had lost his life in a similar accident in the Cuneo area. Two deaths in a few days that bring the issue of road safety back to the forefront, especially in areas where the mountain curves can transform a quiet evening into an irreparable nightmare.

It is really sad what happened in Cervinara, the life of a family changes in an instant. I hope that the son recovers soon and that the wife can receive support in this difficult time. Road safety is very important.
