Napoli – The restyling of the Diego Armando Maradona stadium is taking shape. The Councilor for Infrastructure, Mobility and Civil Protection of the Municipality of Naples, Edoardo Cosenza, spoke yesterday on Radio Marte, outlining the next steps for the redevelopment of the facility.
“We have included the works for the third ring in the planning document of the Municipality. At the beginning of July, in the municipal council, we will discuss the financing in the budget variation”, Cosenza declared, underlining that the project It will be ready by the end of 2025, with the possibility of anticipation.
The master plan, presented on April 30, includes design hypotheses already under discussion with high-level technicians. Among the ideas, the removal of the athletics track to bring the first ring closer to the field, on the model of the Maracanã stadium, improving visibility for spectators.
The spaces freed up under the stands could host new activities, such as a “Maradona Experience,” an immersive and virtual project that would go beyond a simple museum, with the aim of attracting tourists from all over the world.
The municipality of Naples will pay for the works of the third ring
Cosenza then highlighted the “continuous and positive” dialogue with the president of Napoli, Aurelio De Laurentiis, met at the beginning of May. “The president offered to do the work on the third ring, but the Municipality chose to provide it directly. There is no friction, everything is proceeding well”, assured the councilor, confirming the commitment to enhance the stadium and make it a point of reference for the city and the fans.

The stadium restyling project is interesting, but I don't know if the work will be finished by the end of 2025, there are always problems in the construction sites and promises are never kept. I hope it will be different this time.
