It took eight months of meticulous investigations and silent chases, but justice finally knocked on the door of the robbers who, last October, broke into a jewelry store in Torrette di Mercogliano with their faces hidden by carnival masks and weapons drawn. Pistol, rifle and criminal determination: a movie-like action interrupted only by the courage of a merchant, a friend of the jewelers, who forced them to abandon the loot and flee on board a high-powered car.

The agents of the Avellino Flying Squad, led by Deputy Commissioner Aniello Ingenito, put an end to the escape. After months of silent work, they tracked them down in a municipality in the province of Naples. With them was also a woman, an accomplice of the gang, who has been identified and is in the process of being identified.

The precautionary custody order in prison for attempted aggravated robbery was requested by the Chief Prosecutor of Avellino, Domenico Airoma, and signed by the judge for preliminary investigations. The criminals, who thought they had gotten away with it, have been given prison doors. The city can breathe a sigh of relief, the State's response has arrived.

This is a good result, after a long investigation and wait. We hope this justice brings some peace to the business owners and residents who have been put to the test by these criminals.
