Pozzuoli – Institutional presence, listening to residents and monitoring of the work times: these are the cornerstones of the inspection carried out this morning by the Councillor for Heritage of the Municipality of Pozzuoli, Monica Barbieri, in the Monterusciello construction sites, where redevelopment works on the popular lots are underway.
Accompanied by municipal technicians and councilors, Barbieri visited several areas of the neighborhood, collecting reports from residents and ensuring the administration's commitment to intervene promptly.
"Being present on the territory is fundamental," declared Councilor Barbieri. "We cannot allow public works to turn into endless construction sites or for citizens to feel abandoned. Monterusciello deserves respect and daily attention, and we will continue to be there."
Among the most urgent requests that emerged during the inspection is the one related to the restoration of the air conditioners in Lot 6, an intervention that will be completed in the next few days to alleviate the inconveniences of families in these weeks of intense heat. In addition, residents have asked to make the small square in front of Lots 5 and 6 more livable, through the installation of benches and street furniture.
"It is a simple but important gesture," Barbieri added, "to restore spaces of sociality and dignity to those who live here."
The inspection was also attended by city councilor Riccardo Volpe (Più Europa), a member of the Public Works commission and long-time active in the neighborhood.
"Monterusciello has a thousand difficulties, but also the right to be represented," Volpe said. "We have noticed slowdowns in the work on Lot 6, but citizens will see more workers in action starting this week. The message we want to send is clear: they are not alone."
Councillor Sandro Cossiga (Pozzuoli Libera) is on the same line, underlining the importance of guaranteeing transparency and certain timescales in urban redevelopment:
"The citizens of Monterusciello must feel an integral part of the city. We will work to ensure that each intervention truly responds to their needs, restoring decorous and functional spaces."
Today's inspection is part of a broader program of attention to the suburbs, which the municipal administration intends to continue to oversee with commitment, responsibility and concrete actions.
