Naples, historic center: 23-year-old Moroccan arrested for robbery

Naples – A 23-year-old of Moroccan origins, illegal in the national territory and with specific criminal records for robbery, was arrested this morning by the State Police in the historic center of Napoli.

The intervention took place during a territorial control service carried out by the officers of the Vasto-Arenaccia Police Station. While they were walking along Via Carbonara in the direction of Piazza Garibaldi, the officers were stopped by a man who reported that he had just been attacked by two people, one of whom had stolen his cell phone.

The victim indicated one of the alleged perpetrators still nearby. The officers immediately began chasing him and, not without difficulty, managed to block the suspect in via Poerio. The man was arrested, while his accomplice managed to escape without being seen. Investigations are underway to track him down.

It's a situation that makes us reflect on how difficult security is in our cities. Sure, arresting criminals is important, but more controls are needed to prevent these incidents of violence and theft.
