Naples – More blood on the asphalt in Naples, another young man involved in a serious accident, yet another episode in a long trail of accidents affecting the capital and its vast metropolitan area.

An 18-year-old boy was seriously injured during the night between Friday and Saturday in a collision between his motorbike and a car, at the intersection of via Emilio Scaglione and via Marco Rocco di Torrepadula, in the northern part of the city.

According to what has been reconstructed so far by the Local Police of Naples – which carried out the surveys on site with the Accident Department – the impact occurred around 2.30:20. The young motorcyclist, headed towards the Chiaiano metro station, collided with a Fiat Idea driven by a XNUMX-year-old who was coming from via Torrepadula.

The impact, very violent, threw the motorcyclist to the ground, who suffered serious trauma: rushed to the Cardarelli hospital, he underwent a delicate surgical operation. His conditions remain critical.

Both vehicles involved were seized and the two drivers were subjected to the usual toxicological and alcohol tests. Their licenses were withdrawn, pending the outcome of the investigations.

A never-ending trail: the accident toll continues to rise

THEaccident turns the spotlight back on the road safety emergency in Naples and the province, where high urban density, often out-of-control traffic and reckless driving – especially at night – represent a lethal mix. Data from recent months, in fact, indicate an alarming trend: hundreds of accidents, many of which with serious injuries or very young victims.

A concrete response is needed, both in terms of prevention and controls on the territory, to break a cycle that seems to have no end. Urban and inter-municipal roads, too often, become death traps, while the number of families destroyed by avoidable tragedies grows.
