Naples – The devastating explosion in the late afternoon on Via Peppino De Filippo, in Naples, unfortunately caused the death of a 55-year-old man and seriously injured a woman.
The Naples Fire Brigade has located the lifeless body of the person missing in the rubble after the explosion. The Fire Brigade reported this on X, adding that recovery operations are underway.
La explosion, which occurred in the restaurant “da Corrado”, caused the partial collapse of the building. The injured woman was immediately transported to the hospital in critical condition, while her husband and two other people present at the scene received medical treatment on site.
The prefect of Naples,Michele of Bari, has activated the Rescue Coordination Center at the Civil Protection room of the Prefecture, in order to efficiently manage all operations on the field.
Numerous teams of firefighters intervened on site, along with the Carabinieri, local police, state police and a magistrate from the Naples Public Prosecutor's Office, who opened an investigation file to shed light on the causes of the explosion.
The area was completely closed to traffic, with heavy repercussions on circulation. Investigations are underway to ascertain the origin of the explosion, while the city remains shaken by what happened.
