Napoli – Police control operation in the nightlife of Baretti di Chiaia, resulting in two arrests, six reports and numerous fines.
The Carabinieri, engaged in a monitoring service in the area, stopped two young men riding a scooter who forced a checkpoint. After a brief chase, the fugitives were stopped in via Carducci.
During the identification, the two resisted, pushing the soldiers but without causing any injuries. After undergoing the formal procedures, they were placed under house arrest pending trial.
Two repeat offenders also stopped and reported
During the operations, six other people were reported. Among them, two people already burdened by preventive measures who were caught carrying out the activity of unauthorized parking.
Three people were stopped riding scooters without a license, despite previous fines for the same violation. A fourth reported, a partner in a restaurant business, is accused of damaging public land by illegally anchoring an external structure.
Maximum attention was also paid to compliance with the Highway Code: numerous fines were issued, in particular for failure to wear a helmet, with thirteen vehicles being stopped or seized. During anti-drug checks, thirteen people were reported for personal use of narcotic substances.

The control operation in Chiaia shows that the police are doing a good job in maintaining order. However, I wonder if sanctions and arrests are enough to stop this behavior. We need to do more.
