Npaoli - We are still trying to understand if there is anyone under the rubble after the explosion this evening in via Peppino De Filippo, in the center of Naples.

I Firefighters I'm still at work after having pulled a woman from the rubble and taken her to the hospital. The entire building suffered several damages, especially on the facade facing the street.

From a more careful reconstruction of what happened after 19pm this evening, the fire started in a warehouse belonging to the restaurant “Da Corrado”, located in the immediate vicinity of the much better known “To the Daughter of the Sailor“, a historic Neapolitan gastronomic restaurant led by Assunta Pacifico.

Extensive damage to the new premises of “A Figlia d'o marenaro” soon to open

The accident unfortunately caused serious damage to the structures of Assunta Pacifico's restaurant. The flames and smoke significantly compromised several areas, in particular the new rooms that Assunta Pacifico had dedicated with great passion and commitment to her daughters, and which were now close to inauguration (mid-July).

These areas, the result of careful renovation and set-up work, represented an important investment and a new chapter for the business.

“We are deeply shocked and saddened by what happened,” he said. Assumption Pacific. “We have watched helplessly as the flames have damaged our home, and in particular the rooms that we had finished with so much love for my daughters and our clients. It is a very hard blow, especially because it is unrelated to our business and our premises. It is damage that compromises above all the availability of seats in this part of the working season”.

For now, in addition to the entire part of the new premises, the kitchen where Assunta's mussel soup is prepared has also been made unusable, due to damage to the upper floor which has consequently also seen serious damage to the premises of Assunta's son, Giuseppe Scicchitano.

'A Figlia d”o Marenaro” is fully collaborating with the competent authorities in the ongoing investigations, in order to clarify the dynamics of the incident and assess the overall extent of the damage suffered.

Despite the gravity of the situation, the restaurant is working to restore full operation, a part remains usable and will immediately be ready to continue offering its customers the culinary experience that has always distinguished it.

This is truly sad news for all of us who love Neapolitan cuisine. We hope that the damage will be repaired as soon as possible and that restaurants can return to operating as before, for the good of the community.
