Napoli- The search is underway for the printing press of the counterfeit 50 and 20 euro notes that are circulating in the streets of Naples and the province after the seizure of 80 thousand euros from 70-year-old criminal Giovanni Gallotti.
The elderly offender will be questioned today in prison and it is hoped that he will be able to provide useful information to the investigation. The man is an old acquaintance of the police force having been part of the gang of elderly scammers from the Sanità district arrested in 2017 for a series of robberies in Liguria and Northern Italy.
The gang with the scam money treated themselves to luxury vacations in the Maldives and then bragged about it on social media.
Now the agents of the Flying Squad who arrested Gallotti are trying to trace the entire chain of counterfeiters: from the printing house, to the couriers (as in the case of the elderly man arrested), to the distributors, to the recyclers and finally to the spenders.
Giovanni Gallotti had 80 thousand counterfeit euros in 20 and 50 euro notes
The man was stopped in the Porta Nolana area with 25.000 euros in bills for 50 euros, all counterfeit and characterized by the same serial number. While at home he had another stock of counterfeit banknotes, carefully hidden, for a total value of 56.810 euros. The total amount of money seized thus exceeds 80 thousand euros.

This article is about a very serious matter, but there are many questions that can be asked. Why do people continue to commit scams? And how do they print fake banknotes? I hope that the authorities can stop these illegal activities.
