A macabre parricide for money, a modest sum of a survivor's pension from his mother who died 4 years ago. Since yesterday, two esteemed professionals have been locked up in the Poggioreale prison: Michele Di Gennaro, 42, and his brother Andrea, 34.
The first is a biomedical engineer and the second a personal trainer. They are accused of having murdered the elderly father Antonio Di Gennaro, 72, a retired teacher.
This morning they will be heard by the magistrate during the preliminary hearing in the presence of their defense lawyers.
It remains to be established which of the two brothers physically suffocated their father with the pillow.
Their situation could worsen. According to what emerged from the investigations of the Carabinieri, before hiding the body, in a trunk on the terrace of the family home in via Cicori in Quarto, the two allegedly abused the body, wrapping its head in numerous plastic bags: a detail that could confirm not only the concealment of the body, but also the premeditation of the crime.
It remains to be clarified which of the two physically suffocated the man with a pillow, as they themselves confessed. The alarm was raised by the victim's partner, RC, who showed up at the police station on June 5, worried about the disappearance of Antonio, of whom she had not heard since June 3.
The woman reported that the man's children had told her that he had suddenly left abroad for another woman, a version that did not convince either her or the military. During the search of the house, the two brothers broke down, confessing to the murder.
Il motive? Financial disagreements: Antonio allegedly refused to give his children his pension money, a situation aggravated by the arrival of RC in his life, perceived as a threat by the two.
Nothing in their profiles suggested such an epilogue: Andrea dispensed fitness advice on social media, Michele shared travel photos. Now both are under arrest, accused of aggravated voluntary homicide and concealment of a corpse. Antonio's body will undergo an autopsy to clarify the exact causes of death.
