Pompeii – A violent brawl shook up yesterday evening in Via Sacra in Pompei, culminating in the arrest of three men by the State Police and the Carabinieri.
The three, aged 28, 42 and 51, are accused of aggravated brawl, personal injury and damage. The eldest, a Chinese citizen, will also have to answer for aggravated theft and resisting a public official.
The episode was reported by an off-duty officer from the Portici-Ercolano Police Station, who noticed the three attacking each other with cutlery and throwing plates and glasses taken from the tables of a restaurant.
The intervention of colleagues from the Pompeii Police Station was immediate, and they stopped two of the brawlers, a 28-year-old and a 42-year-old of Moroccan origin, both with criminal records.
The third, a 51-year-old Chinese man, was intercepted in Piazza XXVIII Marzo by the Carabinieri of the Torre Annunziata Group. The man, after resisting and engaging in a fight, was found in possession of cutlery stolen from the venue where the fight took place. The three were arrested and are now at the disposal of the judicial authorities.
The joint intervention of the Police and Carabinieri allowed calm to be restored in one of the most frequented areas of Pompeii, avoiding more serious consequences.
