Napoli – A new illegal occupation in a council house in Ponticelli, already at the centre of a similar incident a few months ago.
The house, legally assigned to Angela, who recently passed away, was once again invaded by the same family who had occupied it illegally in September 2024, taking advantage of a period in which the woman had moved to Reggio Emilia for medical care, assisted by her daughter Luisa. Then, thanks to the intervention of the institutions, the house had been evacuated.
Today, however, history repeats itself: with Angela's disappearance, the squatters forced the door, changed the lock and threw some of the deceased's personal effects into garbage bags.
During an inspection with her daughter Luisa and MP Francesco Emilio Borrelli (Green Alliance – Left), the squatters railed against the woman, going as far as threatening her. In an attempt to justify their actions, they even accused Angela's family of defaulting on payments to the Municipality of Naples – a fact completely unrelated and irrelevant to the illegality of the occupation.
This morning, a new check confirmed the presence of the intruders, who however did not open the door. In the meantime, Luisa has started the procedures for disconnecting the utilities, while Borrelli has assured his commitment to a legal solution.
“Mrs Angela’s memory continues to be outraged by unscrupulous people, who are even preventing the recovery of her memories,” the MP denounced. “We have witnessed unacceptable threats towards Luisa. No alleged default can justify an illegal occupation: it is a crime, period. Social housing is intended for those who have the right to it, not for those who act with arrogance. Law enforcement and social services must intervene immediately: justice will prevail.”
The battle to regain possession of the home continues, while indignation grows over a system that too often leaves room for illegality.

This is a very complicated and sad situation. People should not occupy homes that do not belong to them, especially after the death of a person. I hope this can be resolved fairly and quickly for Angela's family.
