Portici – Ciro, the 16-year-old boy with a disability due to a genetic disease, beaten to death in the Granatello area on the evening of Sunday 8 June, was transferred from the Maresca hospital in Torre del Greco to the Cardarelli in Naples, where he will undergo delicate maxillofacial surgery for the serious fractures he suffered.
According to the reconstruction, the attack would have arisen from a simple greeting by Ciro to a girl he knew, a gesture that would have unleashed the fury of a peer, identified as the young woman's ex-boyfriend.
The 16-year-old suffered very serious injuries: a wound under the eye arch, closed with 10 stitches, and fractures to the face that require a complex operation. The violence was such that it destroyed the victim's glasses, with an optician offering to replace them for free.
“It is likely that Ciro was hit with a knuckleduster,” said MP Francesco Emilio Borrelli (Avs), who visited the boy in hospital. “The attack was so violent that it could have killed him. He has bone splinters scattered around his skull.”
Borrelli pointed the finger at the lack of security: "As the mayor denounced Enzo Cuomo, at night in Portici and Ercolano, with over 100 thousand inhabitants, there is only one patrol car between midnight and 6. Rather than an increase in the police force, here the security measures are being dismantled”.
The incredible defense on social media of the attacker's family
Meanwhile, the attacker's family members have publicly defended the young man on social media, sparking the indignation of Ciro's parents: "Our son is in serious condition, while theirs is at home. We are also receiving threats. We are asking for swift justice." The investigation continues to clarify the dynamics of the facts and ascertain responsibilities, while the local community is rallying around the victim's family.

Honestly, I find the situation very ugly and unacceptable. Ciro deserves justice and I don't understand how it is possible that there is still this violence in a society like ours. It is a shocking event.
