Portici – An episode of youth violence has rocked the Granatello area of Portici. A 14-year-old boy was reported at large by the local police on charges of assault after he attacked a 16-year-old boy, punching him in the eye.
One greeting too many, the spark of violence
According to the investigation, the attack was apparently motivated by personal reasons. The 14-year-old, initially believed to be the victim's peer, turned out to be the ex-boyfriend of a girl to whom the 16-year-old had simply waved. This gesture, for trivial reasons, triggered the 14-year-old's violent reaction.
The victim was promptly rescued and is still hospitalized for the injuries he sustained. The episode once again highlights the growing concern for youth violence, which often has its roots in complex relational dynamics and manifests itself with impulsive and serious actions.
Reading about the episode of violence between very young people I asked myself if there is really a need for so much aggression between kids, I don't understand why a simple greeting can trigger such violent reactions. It's worrying.
