NAPLES – Once again, via Manzoni, in the heart of the Posillipo district, is confirmed as one of the most dangerous stretches of Neapolitan traffic. This morning, around 9, a small car overturned for reasons still being investigated, ending up sideways on the roadway and paralyzing traffic. Fortunately, according to what emerged from the initial surveys, there were no serious injuries, but the scene caused great apprehension among passers-by and stranded motorists.
Traffic was interrupted to allow for rescue and law enforcement operations, which then reopened the road in alternating-lane mode. An inconvenience that, however, represents only the latest episode in a long series. Reports of the danger of the road are multiplying, as are requests for intervention by citizens.
Francesco Emilio Borrelli , a member of Parliament for the Green-Left Alliance, strongly denounced the situation: "The latest accident on Via Manzoni confirms the urgent need to structurally rethink road safety in this densely populated area with significant traffic flows." The MP called for concrete measures such as speed bumps, raised pedestrian crossings, and increased police presence.
Municipality 1 Councilor Lorenzo Pascucci also agreed, announcing new initiatives to protect residents. After having approved a motion to install raised crossings, Pascucci said he was ready to request specific interventions for Via Manzoni: "We need immediate responses; we can't wait until someone dies."

It's strange that there are so many accidents on via Manzoni, something more should be done for safety. Speed bumps would be useful, but the authorities don't seem interested in the problems of the people in the neighborhood.
