High impact operations in San Giorgio a Cremano and Herculaneum, after the latest news stories and in particular after the laying in the San Giorgio nightlife area.
The Carabinieri have been busy with intense territorial control activity in the last few hours. The checks, coordinated by the Torre del Greco Company, have led to a disturbing discovery: a semi-automatic pistol with a round in the chamber, hidden in the stairwell of a condominium.
The weapon, a 7,65 caliber Beretta with the serial number erased and a magazine inserted with two rounds of ammunition, was discovered by the soldiers of the San Giorgio a Cremano Station, supported by the Campania Regiment, in a building on via Saverio Mercadante.
The discovery, which occurred during a prevention service, raises concerns about possible links to recent episodes of armed violence in the city. The gun was seized and will be subjected to ballistic tests.
During the checks, the military also reported a man for electricity theft: the house was illegally connected to the public grid through a tampered meter. Another young man was reported for driving without a license, having already been found to be a repeat offender.
The operation's balance sheet included: 45 people identified, 30 vehicles checked, two house searches and two personal searches, eight fines issued for violations of the Highway Code and two vehicle registration documents withdrawn.
At the same time, a few kilometers away, the Carabinieri of the Ercolano branch arrested a 34-year-old with no criminal record, caught dealing drugs in via Tironi di Moccia.
The man was spotted on board a Mercedes A-Class while giving a sachet to a customer, who was then reported to the Prefecture. The subsequent search led to the seizure of 18 doses of crack, 4 doses of cocaine and 185 euros in cash, believed to be the proceeds of the illicit activity.
The arrested man was transferred to the Naples-Poggioreale prison, awaiting the validation hearing.

The article presents a situation that is worrying for the safety of our community. The Carabinieri controls are necessary, but I hope that there is more attention to the underlying problems such as unemployment and lack of opportunities for young people.
