Santa Maria Capua Vetere,– 57-year-old Sandro De Luca, accused of attacking a man in St. Peter's Square last March, is on trial for personal injury.

The sole judge of the Court of Santa Maria Capua Vetere, Rossi Alfano, ordered the referral to trial, accepting the request formulated by the public prosecutor Gionata Fiore, who had closed the preliminary investigations against the suspect.

According to the reconstruction of the Prosecutor's Office, the victim, a man of Sardinian origins but resident in Santa Maria Capua Vetere, identified with the initials FP, was allegedly punched in the face and kneed at the height of an argument over trivial matters.

The attack – in which two other people also took part, for which the proceedings are being conducted separately – ended with the victim being taken to the emergency room, where he was found to have multiple contusive traumas and a rib fracture, with a prognosis of 55 days.

The investigation was triggered by the complaint filed by the victim at the police station, assisted by the lawyers Raffaele and Gaetano Crisileo, the same lawyers who today represent her as a civil party in the criminal proceedings.

The hearing is now expected in the courtrooms of San Marino, where De Luca will have to answer to the charge of aggravated injuries.
