Dugenta (Benevento) – An armed attack in the middle of the countryside has shaken the morning in Dugenta, where two young men in their thirties were injured by gunshots while traveling on board a Fiat Panda. The episode, which occurred this morning in a rural area of the Benevento municipality, has left traces of blood on the ground and many questions.
The most seriously injured of the two was hit in the abdomen and is in serious condition, although his life is not in danger. The second young man instead suffered a wound to the arm. The 118 paramedics intervened immediately on the scene, providing first aid before transporting him to the hospital, and the Carabinieri of the Benevento Company, who started the investigation.
Initial reconstructions leave room for various hypotheses. Investigators are not ruling out any possibility, including the most disturbing one: that the shots were fired by someone who mistook the two boys for criminals. The precise dynamics of what happened are still unclear, as are the circumstances that led to the ambush in what is normally a quiet countryside area.
The Panda, riddled with bullets, was seized by the Carabinieri for ballistic tests. Several shell casings were found at the scene, which could help reconstruct the shooting sequence. The investigation is proceeding rapidly to shed light on an incident that has thrown the small community of Dugenta into a panic.
