Striano – An 11-year-old girl was injured this afternoon while walking along Via Sarno, the second cross street, headed toward her aunt’s house.
Suddenly she felt a strong pain in her abdomen. The little girl was immediately helped by her aunt and transported to the hospital “Martiri del Villa Malta” in Sarno (Sa), where doctors identified and removed a metal pellet embedded in her body.
The Carabinieri of the Striano station intervened on the spot, started the investigation and seized the bullet. From the first findings, it would be a pellet fired from a compressed air rifle.
According to an initial reconstruction, unknown persons fired at least one shot in the area where the little girl was located, near the hotel institute.
The area is monitored by video surveillance cameras: the military is acquiring the images to shed light on the incident and identify those responsible.
The child was discharged from the hospital with a 10-day prognosis.

It is truly tragic that a child of such a young age can be injured in such a violent way. I hope that the investigations lead to a solution and that those responsible are found as soon as possible. It is important that situations like this do not happen again.
