Naples – A month after the taxi drivers' strike in Naples, which had put the spotlight on the critical issues of city traffic and the management of the ZTLs, the city's Autonomous Taxi Drivers bitterly denounce the lack of concrete responses from the Municipal Administration.

In a press release, the category expresses deep disappointment for the silence of the institutions, despite the formal request sent on May 28, 2025 by the President of the Transport Commission to the Mayor and the Councilors for Budget, Transport and Legality.

To date, no official response has arrived, nor has there been any progress in resolving the issues raised, which continue to penalize citizens, workers and users of the taxi service.

I taxi drivers they point the finger at the President of the Transport Commission, accusing him of neglecting the sector to dedicate himself to issues of greater media visibility, such as the reopening of the Third Tier of the Maradona Stadium.

“While people are talking about the stadium on social media, our requests seem buried in the Sahara desert,” reads the statement, which criticizes the lack of attention to a crucial issue such as urban mobility.

Taxi drivers warn: without a serious and far-sighted policy, the 2032 European Championship risks becoming a missed opportunity, with serious repercussions on the efficiency and image of Naples.

The category, which declares itself independent from trade unions, asks for immediate, concrete and public answers, inviting President Simeone to focus on his skills in the field of transport, rather than on sporting events, however important.

The protest of the Neapolitan taxi drivers does not stop: the ball is now in the Administration's court, called upon to break the silence and give answers to an exasperated category.

It is important that the institutions respond to taxi drivers, because without communication the problems cannot be solved. The traffic situation in Naples is complex and the ZTLs do not help. A more open dialogue is needed.
