Torre del Greco – A fifty-year-old from Naples, resident in the neighborhood Ponticelli, was placed under house arrest on charges of stealing two motorcycles in Torre del Greco last March. The order was issued by the GIP of the Court of Torre Annunziata at the request of the Public Prosecutor's Office, and today it was executed by the State Police of the Torre del Greco Police Station.
Thefts: a Vespa PX and a Liberty stolen by break-in
The man is accused of stealing:
A Vespa Piaggio PX on March 12,
A Piaggio Liberty on March 18th.
In both cases, the vehicles were driven away by forcing the steering lock and the rear wheel lock, a circumstance that aggravates the crime.
The investigations: cameras and pursuit
The investigations, coordinated by the Prosecutor's Office and conducted by the Investigative Team of the Police Station, began immediately after the first theft. The agents have:
✔ Analyzed surveillance camera footage, identifying the license plate of a vehicle used by the thieves.
✔ Compared the images with those in the Scientific Police database, thus tracing the suspect.
In the following days, during an investigative service, the officers recognized him while he was traveling on a Piaggio Liberty in via Casa Cirillo in Trecase, wearing the same clothes captured by the cameras at the time of the thefts.
The chase and the escape
When the police attempted to stop him, the man tried to escape, reversing and losing the officers. However, the evidence collected (including the stolen vehicle and his behavior) convinced the Prosecutor's Office to request (and obtain) the precautionary measure.
House arrest carried out
This morning, the measure was applied: the 50-year-old was taken to his home, where he will serve house arrest while awaiting trial.

questo articolo è molto interessante e fa capire come la polizia lavora per fermare i ladri, ma mi chiedo se ci siano abbastanza risorse per fare i controlli nei quartieri dove ci sono più furti come Ponticelli e Torre del Greco.
