Agropoli – A dramatic accident hit the Cilentana this morning, near the Agropoli Nord junction, costing the life of a 30-year-old motorcyclist, originally from Eboli.
The young man, heading towards Maratea for a motorcycle rally, lost control of his motorbike, ending up off the road. The impact was fatal: the 30-year-old died instantly.
Emergency services intervened immediately.
The Red Cross of Agropoli health workers arrived on the scene with an ambulance and a medical car, but all attempts at resuscitation were in vain. The Carabinieri carried out surveys to reconstruct the dynamics of the accident, which at the moment does not appear to involve other vehicles.
Circulation on the Cilento, at km 100,300, was blocked for several hours, with traffic diverted between the Paestum and Agropoli Nord junctions. The Soccorso Rega tow truck intervened to remove the vehicle and clear the roadway. The road was then reopened.
The latest tragedy on this stretch of road has left the local community shocked, awaiting clarification on the causes of the accident.
